THE POWER OF A PROPHETIC WORD
This week, we were introduced to the supernatural power of prophecy. We learned that God speaks to counter the forces of nature. If he knows you are absolutely sure of where you are going, he doesn’t need to speak. God gives you a word to counter the forces of nature. That word he gives comes against a tide. God will most likely not speak about a matter in which a problem will not counter the matter.
Questions to note;
- Can God change His mind about a prophetic word already spoken?
Yes and No. When God gives a prophetic word, there is a pattern for that prophetic word to follow so that it comes to pass. There is a path to the destiny God has ordained for you. If a man moves out of the lines and patterns that God has drawn to catapult him into that Destiny God has ordained, will automatically make the prophecy or word God has spoken not come to pass. We are aware that whatever thing men may do, the will of God remains unchanged. For example, the story of Queen Vashti, when she was married to King Xerxes, she disobeyed the King and another took her place. We have many other examples of men whom Destinies were spoken over and they moved out of the lines and patterns of that God-ordained destiny and another took their places.
2. Why do evil prophetic dreams come to pass quicker and good/Godly dreams or prophecies delay?
God has given us all power and authority to war against the forces of darkness and he expects us to fight back when he reveals the negative things the devil wants to do. In the book of 1 Timothy 1:18 NKJV emphasises, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage a good warfare,” God therefore expects us to wage warn using the prophecies and the word he has given us in order to counter the forces of nature. If a man fails to fight then he is defeated. Normally, bad dreams come to pass because it takes no step to believe a bad dream, in the sense that we automatically believe it will happen if we don’t pray, but if it is good dream or word, we believe it may not happen even if we pray. In the book of Exodus 20:7 NKJV, ” You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, …” We are aware that the name of the Lord is I AM. Because we use the name “I AM” in our daily conversations, our confessions establishes realities in the realm of men. For example when a man says I am broke, I am in trouble, I am sick, I dead, those things end up happening because we are using the name of God I AM in vain. Our confessions are 90% negative and 10% positive. That is why the negative easily happens.
3. Is there such a thing as a set prophetic destiny or a word set in stone that cannot change regardless of what one does?
The word God has shown us that we can alter God’s plan and will for your life based solely on your decisions. For example it was the will of God for Moses to enter the promised land with the Israelites. He however digressed from the patterns of God’s word by hitting the rock twice to bring water instead of speaking to it. So yes, the prophecy or destiny remains unchanged, however if you move away from the patterns of the word, another will take your place.
4. If God is all knowing(omniscient) why would. he still allow something to happen or give a prophetic word knowing it will not come to pass?
This is a very interesting question. We have learned that God’s foreknowledge must only be defined within the framework or boundaries of his Will. God’s foreknowledge does not stretch beyond his will. In other words, he knows ahead of time but within the limits if his will and that is what he speaks. Whenever God speaks beyond his will, it is called judgement. God is constrained by his word. In Jeremiah 29:11, The Bible tells us he knows the plans to prosper us, plans to give us a hope and a future. God’s spiritual father is his Word. In other words, God does not speak because it must come to pass. God speaks out of his love and will and purpose.
